Remember that time, when people had to build websites & blogs by typing those ugly HTML codes?

Well, not anymore!

We should be thankful that we live in an era of CMSs like WordPress, with the help of which you can build websites within a matter of time.

With the help of the Divi theme, you can build any kind of website you want. It just makes your task so easy. You don’t have to worry about writing a single line of code.

Packed with exceptional graphics and a powerful drag & drop page builder, it gives an opportunity to show their creative side to those who cannot code.

There are multiple reasons why it is one of the most popular themes out there in the market.

We’re going to discuss all of them, along with the cons of using Divi in this detailed review of this extraordinary multipurpose theme.

About Divi – How does a Divi website look?

Elegant themes, one of the top WordPress theme companies in the world is the creator of Divi.

For more than 10 years, they are providing premium WordPress support + continuous updates for their products that power more than a million websites from around the globe.

Divi comes in the Elegant themes membership which gives you access to 2 themes – Divi & Extra and 2 plugins – Bloom and Monarch. All this for the price of a single theme.

Here’s what a Divi built website looks like (old image though) –

Who is the Divi theme for?

Divi is for everyone. yup!

No matter who you are – a freelancer, an agency or just a blogger or an online entrepreneur, Divi can make building websites for you easier, faster & enjoyable.

Divi totally streamlines your design process and improves your efficiency.

It is completely beginner-friendly. Anyone can jump into Divi, thanks to its visual editor and hundreds of pre-made designs.

You can build an unlimited number of websites with just a single membership.

Pretty cool, eh?

The Divi drag & drop builder

What I love the most about this theme is its drag & drop page builder.

You don’t have to worry about messing around with codes or anything. All you need to do is drag & drop different elements and create any type of page easily.

With the Divi builder, you can totally control the design and content of the web page from the front end itself.

You can simply choose any premade layout and edit it however you want.

If you want to build your page from scratch, you can simply do so by adding rows, sections, and various elements or modules from the library.

If you want to customize your page with additional CSS, you can also do that by just adding your code into the boxes present with each element.

This drag & drop builder is the ultimate selling point of this theme. It won’t be wrong to say that Divi is more of a framework than just a theme.

110+ full website layout packs

Yup, you heard it right.

Divi theme comes with 110+ full website layout packs which you can use to create your own dream website.

All you need to do is select the layout from the library and edit it according to your own terms.

It’s just as simple as that.

There are layouts also available for landing pages, sales pages, about me pages, and what else not.

And that’s not all, brand new layouts are added weekly along with royalty-free photos, icons, and illustrations.

46+ Website elements

There’s an element or module for almost everything you can imagine.

These modules are what make the Divi theme and its builder different.

You can just drag and drop them to the sections where you want it.

Moreover, each of these elements is highly customizable and it comes with all the options you need to make it look and work the way you want.

You can easily use these content elements, with different configurations to present different content on your website.

These content elements or modules include text, audio/video, divider, button, social following, email opt-in form, contact form, etc.

Full customization

Divi builder gives you total control of how your website looks.

Divi theme allows you to customize even the slightest of details of your website elements.

The most interesting part is that you don’t have to go back and forth from the front end to the back end of your website to do so.

Everything can be done just from the front end itself.

eCommerce compatible

Divi is fully compatible with WooCoomerce and offers specific WooCommerce integrations that make the two a perfect pair.

WooCommerce is free, which means anyone using Divi can start selling products online at no additional cost at all.

Also, pricing tables are one of the many page elements that Divi theme offers.

With a full range of design and content settings, you can easily create compelling sales pages for your products.

Global support – translated into 32 languages

Divi supports 32 different languages from all around the globe.

This not only means the front end website language but also the Divi builder interface along with all the other descriptions.

Once you enable an RTL language within your WordPress Dashboard, Divi and the front-end of your website will automatically switch to RTL mode.

Extendability – Use 100s of extensions

As I already told you, Divi is more of a framework than just a theme.

This means there are tons of extensions and plugins available in the market which you can use to enhance the functionality of the theme.

There’s a community of hundreds of thousands of designers and developers filled with amazing third party extensions, child themes, and layouts to help take Divi even further.

Documentation & Technical support

Elegant themes is known to provide quite extensive documentation about their themes generally.

Divi aims its documentation at helping the non-tech savvy to familiarize themselves with the theme and its features.

With the quality of documentation they provide, it’s highly unlikely that you’ll need to avail of their support.

But even if you need their support, just know that they are very responsive and their support would be sufficient to solve any of your issues.

Security

What’s the point of getting a premium theme if it’s not secure enough? right?

Well, with Divi, you don’t have to worry about security at all.

The developers at Elegant Themes have made it a point to make their products as secure as possible.

Sucuri is one of the best providers of security solutions for websites using the WordPress platform. A code audit by Sucuri, having gone through Divi’s code has confirmed that it’s a secure platform for your site.

Pricing

Divi along with another theme called Extra + 2 plugins – Bloom & Monarch come together in Elegant themes club membership.

You can sign-up for $89 per year or $249 for a lifetime.

Both options provide an unlimited number of websites with regular updates and premium support.

I personally use it and believe that it’s totally worth every penny.

They also provide a 30-day money-back guarantee, just in case you decide that Divi is not made for you.

Divi 4.0 Update

With the latest 4.0 update of the Divi theme, it is easier than ever to build or design a gorgeous looking website/blog.

Here are a few new things that can be done with the latest update :

Design your own header + footer

Before Divi 4.0, there were a lot of limitations on designing your website header & footer elements.

Since the latest update, you can build your own website header and footer from scratch using the theme builder, just the way you want or you can also use premade layouts from Elegant themes.

And that’s not all, you can also create different headers and footers for different category posts for better user engagement and conversions.

Custom category/archive pages

You can create a custom category or archive page or you can just create a layout from the theme builder and apply it to all of your category + archive pages.

This was not possible in the previous versions of the Divi theme.

Custom post layouts

This is my most favorite part!

Divi 4.0 gives you the power to create custom templates for different category posts.

For example, let’s say that you have 3 categories on your blog. Then, you can create 3 layouts for each of those categories.

Posts from category 1 will show a different sidebar, header, footer and body contents than the posts from the 2nd and 3rd category.

This might not sound like a big thing. But this can boost your email signups, user experience, engagements or conversions exponentially.

Isn’t that awesome?

Cons of using Divi theme

If you’re looking for perfection in this world, then I apologize because I’m going to disappoint you with some limitations of this theme.

Let’s just look at them –

  • Too many options available in this theme can be overwhelming sometimes.
  • Switching to any other theme can be disastrous. But once you get Divi, I don’t think there’s anything that can change your mind to make a switch. Moreover, you can change your brand style again and again.
  • A few bugs are there. There are a few bugs that you might encounter while using Divi. But you can get them resolved by contacting their support.
  • It can seem to be a little expensive for a beginner. But if you can afford, trust me, you’re not going to regret making the decision.

Apart from these, I never had any major issues in my years of experience with Divi.

Final thoughts

There are only a few themes in the market that provide so much efficiency as the Divi theme does.

I’m just gonna say that Divi is one of the best and most popular WordPress themes than one can get for such a great price.

You should just try Divi if you’re planning to create a new website without much of a hassle.

Share your experience in the comments if you’re an existing Divi theme user.
