Have you heard the phrase “The money is in the list!” or “Your email list is your biggest asset”?

Ever wondered why all of the successful bloggers or online business owners tell you to start building your Email List right away?

Email List building is much more significant than building social media following. Yet, some newbie bloggers avoid or ignore building their email list.

Not only should you invest time and effort on email marketing, but you must also focus on building your own email list.

Many bloggers + business owners buy databases. Instead of buying a database which will really not be quantifiable whether or not every lead is qualified for your products or services, you should build your own email list.

Why should you start building your Email list?

Here are the reasons, which are also the benefits of building an Email List-

Builds a much better relationship

While the post you publish on social media reaches to a wider audience, it does not resemble any special connection.

On the other hand, When you send an email to your list, it is more private. It resembles a special connection between you and your subscribers as they trusted you with their email addresses.

On social media, it’s quite difficult to personalize your content. But with an email list? You can easily and you should make it feel like you’re talking to one person only.

There are literally so many ways that you can do that with an email list.

  • You can include their first name.
  • Easily segment your email list based on how people have behaved.
  • Put automations in place so that they receive emails based on how they’ve engaged with your emails.

In a single sentence? Having an email list allows you to build trust and a special personal connection with your subscribers.

AND, they help you to showcase your credibility and leadership, which help your ideal clients to determine whether they’re going to buy anything from you or not!

You own your Email List

Do you really believe that you own your Facebook or Instagram following?

If you believe that, then you should pack your bag and leave this planet…

It is Facebook & Instagram that owns that following. But the same is not true with your Email list.

You completely own it, every single subscriber. YESSSSS!

You can send them whatever and whenever you want, without the fear of an algorithm that will prevent your email from reaching to your entire list.

On social media, you can’t guarantee that people will see your post because:

  • They easily get distracted by their feed or notifications (so you can lose their attention!)
  • You don’t really know whether people are checking their social media or not (or when they can close their account)
  • You’re competing with algorithms that are making it more difficult for your followers to see your posts

But with an Email list? You have nothing to worry about.

People need their emails for everything, they can’t close their email accounts + there are no algorithms to prevent your emails from reaching to your subscribers.

Conclusion? with an email list, you OWN your subscribers and nobody can take them away from you. You have way much more control and you can get in touch with your audience WHENEVER you want to.

It gives you a ready and waiting audience

You don’t need to go out looking for a database or wait for the impending traffic. All your other marketing strategies will remain at play.

The distinct advantage is that you can send out notifications or email updates and get the leads to respond.

The ready audience will give a fillip to your traffic. They would read your blog post, see your offers. They would share the email and also spread the word verbally.

You would have direct responses in some cases that you can follow up on.

Many people on your email list will take to social media to further spread the word which will assist your existing social media campaigns.

Better Conversions

Building an email list is essentially about creating a database of subscribers or followers. These people are potential consumers or customers.

They have been qualified and would want to hear from you. They may not necessarily be endorsers or fans of everything you sell or offer but they are

Moreover, your email list converts subscribers into customers better than social media.

And if you’re planning on selling your own products and services or promoting affiliate products, you’re going to get more sales from your email list compared to your social media.

For example, you publish a post on Instagram or Facebook sharing info on your product. On average, nearly 1% of people will purchase your product. So, if 100 people saw your post, you’ll have 1 sale from that group of people.

But what happens when you send that info to your email list?

If you share the exact same information with your email list, 1-3% of people will purchase your product so you could make 3 sales.

Can you see the difference?

Conclusion? Your email list will always convert more subscribers into customers than social media. (Guaranteed!)

Business growth

Are you planning to create any digital products to sell on your blog? like Ebook or courses?

Your Email list gives you a great chance to build a foundation for your digital products and then sell them.

For Example, you can easily survey your subscribers to find out what they’re struggling with the most and what topics they’d like you to focus on. (So that you know what your ideal audience’s biggest pain points are!)

Once you’ve grown a targeted audience of people, you can leverage that email list to VALIDATE your course idea before you create it.

One step further than that…

You can pre-sell a beta version of your product to see whether it’s something your audience actually WANTS.

This is a way better strategy compared to spending weeks, months creating a product only to find out that no one is interested in it. A complete waste of time, money and energy!

Instead, you only start putting in the time to build your products once people hand over their credit cards. And then you’ll know that your product is going to sell when you launch it!

And after the launch, you can create a well-oiled sales machine that nurtures your audience and sells your digital products on auto-pilot.

An email list gives you a solid foundation to do the groundwork that your business needs, in order to create growth and scalability.
